Baccarat

Baccarat is one of the more famous games of chance in casinos. In fact, it has achieved the same level of popularity as poker and blackjack. Unlike the other card games, baccarat is not really a complicated game and you don’t have to spend much of your time practicing and developing your skills to play this simple card game. The game of baccarat has a storied history and several milestone events and a few famous personalities have added a lot of interest in the game. For instance, the game of baccarat will always be attached to the aura and colorful image of our favorite secret agent, James Bond. Let us take a look at a few famous baccarat players, both real and fictional, that made this card game so famous around the world.

James Bond

James Bond is definitely the personification of the game of baccarat. A James Bond movie is not complete without this popular card game. In fact, no real player has ever surpassed the popularity of James Bond when it comes to playing the game of baccarat. In his movies, James Bond always played high stakes baccarat, and you will surely not miss the trademark unstirred and unshaken martini every time he gets into action on the baccarat table.

The most successful and unforgettable James Bond movies where baccarat took center stage include Casino Royale, For Your Eyes Only, Dr. No, Golden Eye and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Most casino gambling experts attribute a considerable part of the success of the card game to the movies of James Bond. It gave the public a different perspective on how the game was played and it became the driving force of the game of baccarat over the years.

Tommy Renzoni

The persona of Tommy Renzoni is cloaked with mystery, and depending on the purveyor of information, he can be a low-key hotel executive or a fearsome gangster. Regardless of the conflicting descriptions, Renzoni will always be known in casino gaming circles as the father of American baccarat.

Renzoni started his gambling career playing baccarat during the 1950s. He initially built his reputation as a topnotch baccarat player in Cuba and later on introduced the games to casino goers and professional gamers in the US. This new card game didn’t really get a rousing welcome in US casinos. In time, the game slowly picked up the pace and became more popular and with its increasing popularity, other casinos followed suit and opened their own baccarat tables.

Akio Kashiwagi

Known in gaming circles as the Warrior, Akio Kashiwagi is the big personality in the exciting game of baccarat. Kashiwagi is a highly successful real property investor who later on dazzled the world of casino gaming with the way he lived and won the card games that he played. A cursory look at his win-loss clip, one can easily see how big a player he was. He had no compunction when betting enormous sums of money and his usual winnings and losses were also enormously high.

His tragic death in 1992 is also clouded with mystery, and to this day, his murder remains unsolved.
